SEWANEE, Tenn. - The Rhodes College women's basketball team erased a double-digit deficit to move within three points in the fourth quarter. However, 26 total turnovers in the game would haunt the Lynx as the Sewanee Tigers would pull away and drop Rhodes, 75-56.
Rhodes shot 21-for-55 (38.2%) from the field and 5-for-25 (20.0%) from deep in the loss. The two teams were even in rebounds at 25, but Rhodes was only able to turnover the Tigers 12 times. Sewanee scored 29 points off turnovers and dominated the paint on Rhodes, outscoring them 26-14.

Sara Giesen gave Rhodes an 8-0 lead against their bitter rival. Sewanee fought back, but Rhodes held a 15-13 at the end of the first quarter.
Sewanee would take control in the second quarter, outscoring the Lynx, 20-9, in the quarter. The Tigers ended the quarter on a 13-2 run including a huge three pointer at the buzzer for a 33-24 advantage.
As the game moved into the second half, the Tigers continued to dominate, pushing their lead to as much as 17. Rhodes would slowly start to rally towards the end of the quarter, looking for one more run.
The play of Daniels would move the game within three, 53-50, with 7:25 remaining in the game. However, Sewanee would respond with a 9-0 run to go back up by 12. The run would go to 18-1 as Rhodes would fall to Sewanee for the first time since 2012.
Daniels led the way offensively with 10 points while Eckert added nine and junior
Bailey Kramer had eight points and 10 boards. Sophomore
Erin Deery had seven points and five boards off the bench. Eckert and junior
Blaire Smith each had two steals defensively while senior
Hannah Orth and freshman
Danielle Summers each had three assists.
For Sewanee, Jamie Chauvin led the way with 27 points while Corey Caulder had 21 points.
Rhodes now sits at 7-7 overall and 1-2 in Southern Athletic Association play. They return to action on Saturday as they welcome in Hendrix College to Mallory Gymnasium at 3 PM.
