Lynx Women Finish Second at Sewanee Invite

RESULTS

SEWANEE, Tenn. -
The Rhodes Women's Cross Country Team finished 2nd out of six scoring teams at the Sewanee Invitational on Saturday.

Despite holding out two of the squads top runners due to injuries, the Lynx showed great depth by placing six runners in the top 12. Lee University captured the team title with 33 points, followed closely by Rhodes (36) and the University of North Alabama (77).

Sophomore Ashley Litoff was the top Rhodes finisher (3rd overall), completing the 6000 meter course in 23:21. Junior Kendall Reed (6th/23:48) and Freshman Megan Jackson (8th/24:01) captured the second and third spots, while Sophomore Abby Watkins (9th/24:39) and Senior Nancy-Margaret Wehby (10th/24:46) rounded out the scoring for the Lynx.

"We kept the pace very even and controlled today," said Head Coach Robert Shankman. "Everyone did a nice job with their summer training and it showed today.  I'm excited to see what this team will do at the conference and region level, particularly when we get Brittany (Alexander) and Hannah (Henderson) back."

The Lynx compete next at the Rhodes Invitational on September 26.
