Men's Soccer Explode for Six Goals to Roll Fisk

MEMPHIS - Six different players scored goals for the Rhodes College soccer team on Sunday afternoon as they blew past the Fisk University Bulldogs by the final score of 6-1. 

The Lynx were dominant all throughout the match, outshooting the Bulldogs, 36-8 including 17 shots on target. Rhodes also had 14 corner kicks in the contest and was able to control and direct possession for most of the match.

Rhodes got on the board in the 20th minute as sophomore Mark Robinson scored. Four minutes later, Robinson would find senior Evan Wladis, who was able to put the Lynx up 2-0.

Freshman Davis Neitzschman hooked up with fellow freshman Tyler Beasom who proceeded to score the first goal of his career in the 44th minute with only 23 seconds remaining for a 3-0 lead going into the break.

It was more of the same in the second half as sophomore Rick Catania scored his first career goal off an assist from Wladis and sophomore William Mitchell in the 53rd minute. 

Neitzschman would scored his team-leading fifth goal of the season on the assist from freshman Austin Ly

Rust would get on the board in the 84th minute; however, Rhodes would finish the game off as sophomore Matt McKeand scored his fourth goal of the season and the game would end at 6-1.

With the win, Rhodes moves to 4-3-2 (0-0-1 SAA) and will get ready to hit the road this upcoming weekend. They will travel to Birmingham, Ala. on Saturday as they will prepare for a huge conference matchup against Birmingham-Southern College. Kickoff is set for 11 a.m.
