KENOSHA, Wis. - The Rhodes College women's soccer team went north on Saturday afternoon as they took on the Carthage Lady Reds. Two second half goals proved to be too much for the Lynx as they dropped a 3-2 contest.
It was a wonderful start for Rhodes as junior
Emma Selner put her team up 1-0 thanks to an assist from senior
Shannon Donelson. However, Carthage would respond to even the score as they got a goal in the 37th minute.
The Lady Reds took an 8-6 advantage in shots going into the break, but Rhodes held the advantage in corner kicks at 3-0.
In the second half, Carthage exploded for goals in the 61st and 75th minutes to jump out to a 3-1 lead. The Lynx would not go down quietly though as junior
Nicolette Glidden cut the deficit in half.
Rhodes would pressure on offense in the final 10 minutes, earning three corner kicks and getting two shots off; however, it would not be enough as the Lynx fell short.
Offensively, Glidden and sophomore
Sarah Rostamo each had three shots in the matchup while Selner had two shots in the contest. Senior
Chandler Kuhlman added five saves in the contest.
Rhodes moves to 4-3-1 on the year and will return to action on the road tomorrow as they head to Naperville, Ill. to take on North Central College. Kick off is set for 1 p.m.
