Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men's Soccer Falls Short to Nationally Ranked CBU

MEMPHIS - The Rhodes College men's soccer team traveled down East Parkway and arrived at cross-town rival Christian Brothers University to take on the No. 10 team in Division II. The Lynx put together a great effort against one of the nation's best, but would fall just short, losing 1-0 on Tuesday evening.

Freshman Patrick Wilkerson got the start in goal and was able to keep the Bucs off the board throughout the first half, facing six shots throughout the half and coming away with two saves. Rhodes was able to put some offense together and get two shots off in the half.

In the second half, the Bucs turned on the pressure on senior goalkeeper Riley Sheen, who checked into the game to start the second half. Christian Brothers got 16 shots off in the half and would find the go-ahead goal in the 71st minute thanks to Devon Jackson.

The Lynx were still able to muster some offense of their own, taking two shots in the half, but eventually falling short to the tenth-ranked Bucs. Rhodes was also able to get three corner kick opportunities in the second half.

Freshman Rick Catania got two shots off in the game while senior Will Porter and junior Conner Tipton each got a shot off in the match. The Lynx also got a strong defensive effort from their defenders such as Porter and sophomore Spencer Reaves.

Rhodes will return to action on Saturday as they will open up Southern Athletic Association play by welcoming in Hendrix College to the Rhodes Soccer Complex. Kickoff is set for 12 p.m.
