GREENVILLE, Ill. - In their first road contest of the 2015 season, the Rhodes College men's soccer team suffered a 1-0 defeat on Saturday afternoon to Greenville College.
The Panthers would get on the board first as Jonny Madrid found the back of the net for a 1-0 lead. Rhodes looked to find an equalizer all throughout the first half, outshooting Greenville, 5-3, but the score remained the same heading into the break.
In the second half, the Lynx continued to increase the pressure, sending off six shots in the final frame, but goalkeeper Ian Hodge finished with five saves as the Panthers were victorious on their home field.
Sophomore
Matt McKeand led the offensive attack with four shots in the contest with two on target while freshman
Austin Ly added three shots on the afternoon. Senior goalkeeper
Riley Sheen finished with three saves in the second half, while freshman
Patrick Wilkerson played the entire first half. The Lynx out shot the Panthers, 11-8, but could not find a goal of their own.
The Lynx will return to action tomorrow as they travel down to St. Louis, Mo. for a matchup against Fontbonne University. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
