No. 14 Rhodes rallies to beat No. 5 Birmingham Southern 4-2

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The No. 14 Rhodes baseball team battled back on Saturday to top No. 5 Birmingham Southern College in the first game of the Southern Athletic Association Conference Championship Series, 4-2.
 
The Lynx improve to 31-11 on the year while the Panthers fall to 33-9-1 in 2015.
 
BSC posted two runs in the bottom of the fifth inning for a 2-0 lead. The Lynx offense got moving in the seventh inning, making the score 2-1 after Marcus Mooreland scored off of a double from Josh Keen.
 
The eighth inning proved crucial to the Lynx as they tacked on two more runs, taking the lead 3-2. Ryan Olive got things started with a single to right field that scored David Balaguer. Johnathan Coleman notched a single as well, sending Andrew Wallis home.
 
The Lynx secured their victory in the ninth with a run from Justin Genter to make the final score 4-2.
 
Daniel Morris got the start on the mound for the Lynx, pitching seven complete innings, with five K's on the day. Blake Glauben came in to close, with two innings pitched allowing only one hit and striking out one batter.
 
Rhodes will be back in action in the tomorrow, May 3, against the Panthers as they compete for the championship title.
