No. 20 Rhodes sweeps No. 10 Millsaps

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The No. 20 Rhodes baseball team celebrated senior day on Saturday, completing the sweep of No. 10 Millsaps College in Southern Athletic Association play.
 
The Lynx move to 27-11 on the year and 14-6 in SAA play while the Majors fall to 25-10 on the season and 15-6 in league play.
 
In the first contest the Lynx edged the Majors in a 3-2 decision.
 
Rhodes tacked on the first run in the fourth inning when a Bennett Notestine single to center field brought in David Balaguer.
 
Millsaps added two runs in the sixth, but the Lynx matched it in the same frame, adding two runs when Andrew Wallis singled to right field to score Justin Genter and Will Gietema singled to the same spot sending in Balaguer. The Lynx defense held on for the 3-2 win.
 
In the contest, the Lynx worked for 11 hits, with Genter leading the way, going 3-for-4 at the plate.
 
Adam Putnam picked up his seventh win of the year on the hill for the Rhodes pitching staff, throwing eight complete innings and striking out two.
 
In the second matchup the Lynx secured the sweep, downing the Majors 11-2.
 
Millsaps was the first to get on the board, adding a single run in the first inning. Rhodes added a pair of runs in the second and third innings to post a 4-1 lead, with a Nathan Foshee double down the left field line scoring Notestein in the second. In the third inning, Balaguer kept his hit streak alive, singling to the left field to score Bill Munson. A sacrifice fly from Jackson Lourie gave Rhodes their fourth run.
 
The Majors added another single run in the fourth, but Rhodes matched it in the same frame with a Ryan Olive single scoring Liebenson. A big six-run sixth inning sealed the deal for the Lynx, as they held on to secure the 11-2 win
 
Rhodes rallied for an impressive 18 hits in the contest, with Munson going 4-4 at the dish, including a double.
 
Daniel Morris threw a complete six innings for the Lynx pitching staff, scattering nine hits.
 
Rhodes will look forward to the Southern Athletic Association Tournament, with the schedule still to be determined with other teams in the league finishing the regular season on April 19. The tournament will take place on April 25-26.
