BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – In a clash of top 25 teams, the No. 14 Rhodes baseball team split a double header with No. 6 Birmingham Southern College on Saturday in Southern Athletic Association play.
The Lynx move to 24-10 in 2015, with an 11-5 mark in league play while the Panthers move to 25-7-1 on the year and 12-4-1 in conference play.
The Lynx just missed in the first outing, falling in extra innings, 2-1. The Panthers notched a run in the third, but the Lynx were able to match it in the seventh frame.

The Rhodes defense held strong, forcing extra innings to determine a winner. In the bottom of 10, the Panthers added a single run to take the 2-1 decision.
Head coach
Jeff Cleanthes squad worked for six hits in the contest, with two from Balaguer, and Bennett Notestein, who went 2-for-2 from the dish.
Adam Putnam got the start, and threw a complete nine innings, with nine strikeouts and scattering four hits.
In the second matchup, the Lynx offense got to work early, adding a run in the second inning when
Marcus Moreland singled
Jackson Lourie for the 1-0 lead.
A big, seven-run third inning put the Lynx ahead, with a
Justin Genter single getting things started, scoring
Bill Munson.
Ryan Olive doubled to center on the next at bat to trade places with Genter and post a 3-0 lead. Rhodes tacked on five more runs in the inning for the 8-0 advantage.
The Lynx offense wasn't finished, as they added three more runs in the fifth inning. The Panthers added single runs in the sixth and seventh inning, but it wasn't enough to overcome Rhodes, as the Lynx secured the 11-2 win.
Rhodes worked for 10 hits in the contest, with Munson, Genter, Lourie and Moreland each knocking two hits apiece.
Blake Glauben picked up the start, and the win in six complete innings where he had six K's and scattered six hits.
Rhodes will be back in action on April 12 when they complete the three game series with Birmingham Southern College.
