ATLANTA, Ga. – The No. 21 ranked Rhodes baseball team picked up a 9-3 win over Sewanee on Sunday to complete the series sweep of the Tigers.
The Lynx improve to 13-2 on the season, picking up their ninth straight victory and move to 6-0 in Southern Athletic Association play. The Tigers fall to 4-4 on the year, and 2-4 in conference action.
Rhodes posted offensive production in the first four innings, with a single run in each frame. The Tigers posted their only offense in the second inning when they notched three runs.
The Lynx offense wouldn't be stopped, as head coach
Jeff Cleanthes' squad added three runs in the sixth, and two in the ninth to secure the 9-3 win.
The Lynx tallied 11 hits, with two hits each for
Bill Munson,
Justin Genter and
Andrew Wallis to pace the Lynx. Wallis had four RBIs to lead the team.
Jack Mercer threw a complete game for the Rhodes pitching staff, striking out one, and scattering seven hits over nine innings pitched. The first-year picked up his first win of the season in the outing.
Rhodes will be back in action on March 9 when they begin their spring break series in Winter Haven, Fla. against Thomas More College at 4:30 p.m.
