Rhodes took on the No.  30 ranked NCAA Team Sewanee Tigers at Sewanee last Sunday.  With the match starting at 10:30 am, the Lynx were ready to go after a brief warm up and took the lead after doubles   2-1.

Daniel Olivier/Jack Patton put up a good fight against Eric Roddy/Alex Cooper at the No. 1 position, but would eventually lose the match 8-4.  Eliot Blatt/Greyson Brilliant absolutely out classed Avery Schober/Conner Winkler in doubles and were up 7-2.  The Lynx duo felt the pressure as they tried to close out the match but were Schober/Winkler would not be denied without a fight and were able to bring the match to 7-6.

Eliot Blatt was able to put away a huge forehand volley when out of position to close the match 8-6.  Graham Sowden/Albert Vacheron rose to the occasion and held a big game on Vacheron's serve to put them within striking distance of the set 7-6.  The Rhodes pair easily cleaned up the last return game and put the Lynx up 2-1 starting their singles.

Sewanee came out with fire and intensity in singles after being shocked at the level of performance by the Lynx in doubles.  Vacheron and Sowden were unable to get anything started in singles, and Blatt, Brilliant, Ardila found themselves battling to hold onto the team lead after doubles.  Blatt had set point on Schober up was unable to secure the point after Schober ripped a huge forehand return.

Brilliant was leading throughout the second set, serving at 4-3 until Roddy made his move with consistent ground play, forcing brilliant under pressure.  Luis Ardila had a tough first set against Alex Cooper of Sewanee in the first set, but was unable to throw off Cooper in the second.

Jack Patton was the sole player from Rhodes to put up a singles point, winning his match 7-6 (3), 3-6, 7-6(6) against Scott Gallimore.  The freshman kept his cool throughout the match, hitting a huge lob at 5-3 after being lobbed previously.  After Gallimore's spirit was crushed, Patton crushed a forehand to seal the deal and put up the point for the Lynx.

Rhodes first week of conference matches ends with a record of 1-1.  The Lynx continue all conference match play at home for the duration of the season.  This week, Rhodes will play Oglethorpe on Friday and Berry on Sunday.
