Rhodes picks up 14-2 win over Ozarks

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Rhodes baseball team picked up a win on Sunday over the University of the Ozarks, 14-2 taking the series, 2-1.
 
The Lynx improve to 2-1 on the season while the Eagles fall to 1-2 to start the 2015 campaign.
 
Rhodes put on a scoring clinic, with a Wallis homer in the second putting the first score on the board, 1-0. The Lynx added three more runs in the third, when Ryan Olive David Balaguer and Justin Genter found their way home after a Jackson Lourie single.
 
The Lynx nearly hit for the cycle in the next frame, with a Will Gietema single, a Lourie double and an Andrew Wallis triple that scored five. The Lynx tacked on their final four runs in the sixth, and held on for the 14-2 win.
 
Lourie led the Lynx offense, going 3-3 on the day, with a double. Power hitter Wallis went 2-4, with a triple and a home run. A host of Lynx got hits, with a total of 14 in the contest.
 
Adam Putnam got the start and the win for the Lynx, throwing five innings, with five strikeouts and only two hits allowed in his 19 batters faced. Thomas Beamish picked up two innings, with Daniel Kurtzer and Josh Keen each throwing for an inning apiece.
 
Rhodes will be back in action on Feb. 10 when they host Christian Brothers University at 2 p.m.
