Strong Rhodes pitching brings home 3-1 win over Lynchburg

ATLANTA, Ga. – The Rhodes baseball team picked up a big win against Lynchburg College on Friday in the Emory University Tournament, 3-1.

The Lynx improve to 3-1 on the year while the Hornets fall to 0-4 to start the year.

The Rhodes pitching staff came up big in the outing, with Daniel Morris getting the start on the hill and the win. The junior threw six complete innings of no hitter baseball, where he struck out four batters. Blake Glauben came in for three innings, and picked up the save, while striking out four.

Rhodes worked into the runs column early, with a Josh Keen single scoring Will Gietema for the Lynx first run. Bill Munson knocked a single up the middle in the same frame to bring in Marcus Moreland, for the 2-0 lead.

The Hornets tacked on a run in the sixth off a sacrifice fly. Rhodes added an insurance run in the ninth inning, when Munson found his way home on a throwing error, and the Lynx posted a 3-1 score that would stand.

The Rhodes offense notched nine hits in the outing, with Munson and Keen leading the way with two hits apiece. Munson was also sound on the base path, where he picked up three stolen bases in the win.

The Lynx will be back in action tomorrow, Feb. 14 when they face off against Saint Joseph's College of Maine.
