MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Rhodes women's lacrosse team picked up a 22-5 win over Huntingdon College to open the 2015 campaign.
The Lynx move to 1-0 on the year, while the Hawks fall to 0-1 to begin the season.
A host of Lynx worked into the scoring column, with first-year
Maggie Rippeto leading the way with five goals.
Kendall Cunningham netted four goals of her own, with
Lindsay Gess,
Morgan Fuller and
Oliva Holmes each snagging three scores. Fuller and Gess each dished out two assists in the contests.
Sarah Daniels got the start, and the win for the Lynx, playing 48 minutes in the cage while picking up six saves.
Katherine Farmer picked up 12 minutes in the cage, where she grabbed two saves.
Rhodes outshot its opponent by a margin of 36-15, and forced 21 Huntingdon turnovers. The Hawks had the edge in draw controls, with a tally of 17-12 while the Lynx picked up 23 ground balss to the Hawks 14.
Rhodes will be back in action as they host Southwestern University on Feb. 8.
