JACKSON, Miss. – The Rhodes baseball team picked up a win in a neutral site contest against Wheaton College, 10-6.
The Lynx move to 5-2 on the young season while the Thunder fall to 0-1 to begin the season.
The Rhodes pitching staff had a solid day on the hill, with
Adam Putnam picking up his third win of the season in five innings of work. The junior struck out an impressive seven batters.
Jack Mercer saw three complete innings of relief pitching, before
Philip Sartain came in to close out the contest in the final inning.
Offensive production was not a problem for the Lynx, as they notched 14 hits.
Bill Munson and
Ryan Olive led the way with three hits apiece, including two doubles for Munson, as well as a two-base hit for Olive. Munson also wreaked havoc on the base path, stealing three bases and scoring three runs for the Lynx.
Rhodes will be back in action tonight against Fontbonne University at 8:30 p.m.
