ATLANTA, Ga. – The Rhodes baseball team dropped a close battle to No. 3 Emory University on Sunday in the Emory University Tournament, 5-2.
The Lynx fall to 4-2 on the young season, while the Eagles improve to 2-0 on the year.
The Rhodes pitching staff saw three different Lynx on the mound, with Ship Capper picking up the start. The first-year threw for five innings, striking out five batters.
Thomas Beamish came in for an inning of work, before
Josh Olejnik came in to close. The senior threw two full innings, where he struck out two batters, giving up zero hits.
The Lynx runs came in the seventh frame, when
Marcus Moreland pinch hit, knocking a single to right field that scored
Andrew Wallis.
Jonathan Coleman worked his way home on a throwing error for the Lynx second run, as they fell 5-2.
Rhodes will be back in action on Feb. 20 when they host the Rhodes College Classic, where they will face off against Wheaton College to kick off play.
