ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The Rhodes College women's basketball team gave 11th-ranked Washington University all they could handle on Friday evening, but a 19-10 advantage in the fourth quarter by the Bears gave them a 56-47 win over the Lynx.
Rhodes was terrific from the field, finished 17-for-38 (44.7%) and 8-for-19 (42.1%) from behind the arch. The Rhodes defense gave WashU trouble all night, holding the Bears to 21-of-26 (32.8%) from the field and 6-for-22 (27.3%) from downtown. Rhodes struggled in the turnover department, committing 24 on the night to the Bears' 12. WashU also outrebounded the Lynx, 38-26.
The two teams went back-and-forth throughout the first half with WashU taking a 13-10 lead after the first period and Rhodes closing that gap to two going into the break thanks to five points from .
Midway through the third quarter, the Bears ran their lead out to 34-28, but an 11-1 run by the Lynx gave them a 37-35 lead late in the quarter. The Bears would get a bucket at the buzzer to tie the game going into the final period.
The Bears would use the first four minutes to take a six point lead and would not let go from there, eliminating any sort of Lynx rally to hold on for the home victory.

Blaire Smith led the offensive output for the Lynx, finishing with 13 points on 5-for-7 shooting to go with three assists. Senior
Symone Daniels added 11 points while senior
Catherine Eckert had eight points. Junior
Bailey Kramer led all rebounders with eight while Smith added a pair of steals on the defensive end.
Rhodes moves to 3-5 on the young year and will look to bounce back at the McWilliams Classic tomorrow night as they will take on Wisconsin Lutheran in the Consolation Game. Tipoff is set for 5 p.m.
