MEMPHIS - The Rhodes College field hockey team celebrated their six seniors before their Southern Athletic Association matchup with Hendrix College and then proceeded to go out in style, earning an 11-0 win over the Warriors on Saturday afternoon.
The Lynx scored two goals in the first two minutes as junior
Christina DiFelice opened things up four minutes in followed by a goal from sophomore
Lauren Travis.
Rhodes would add three more goals in the next 10 minutes as a pair of seniors got into the scoring column in
Julie Hertzman and
Mary Rose Hazel as well as the second goal of the day for DiFelice.
The Lynx closed the half with three more goals as sophomore
Georgie Wilkins scored her ninth goals of the season followed by goals from senior
Alex Friedman and junior
Grace Whelan as Rhodes went into the break with an 8-0 lead.
In the second half, senior
Evy Royther and freshman
Lizzie Wood pushed the lead out to 10 while DiFelice would close the scoring with a hat trick to move her team leading scoring total to 11.
Nine different Lynx would score on the afternoon while Royther led the way with two assists. Hertzman, DiFelice, freshman
Jillian Christensen and freshman
Abby Rockefeller all had an assist on the afternoon..
The Lynx snapped a three game skid and moved to 6-4 on the year and 3-1 in SAA play. Rhodes will head to Sewanee, Tenn. where they will take on Lynchburg College in a neutral site matchup. The game is set to begin at 12 p.m.
