Field Hockey Closes Home Season with Dominant Win Over Rivals

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The Rhodes College field hockey team closed their home season on Saturday afternoon, defeating their rivals, the Sewanee Tigers, 6-1, and finishing the year 4-2 at Mason Field in 2015.

The Lynx move to 11-5 overall and 5-1 in Southern Athletic Association play.

Rhodes got the scoring going first as senior Evy Royther found fellow senior Julie Hertzman who scored her first goal of the season to give the Lynx a 1-0 lead seven minutes into the contest. Three minutes later, the Lynx made it 2-0 as Royther scored her 11th goal of the year.

Rhodes would take that 3-1 lead into the break, outshooting the Tigers 7-4 and holding a 2-0 advantage in corners.
