MONTCLAIR, N.J. - The Rhodes College field hockey hit the road for a tough contest on Saturday evening at they took on the seventh-ranked Montclair State Red Hawks. The Red Hawks would break open a tied game at the break, scoring three goals in the second half for a 4-1 victory.

However, Rhodes would respond and tie the game with almost three minutes remaining in the half as junior Christina DiFelice scored her team leading 12th goal of the year.

It was quite the first half, as both teams exchanged shots back-and-forth with the Red Hawks owning a 13-8 advantage in shots as well as a 10-5 advantage in penalty corners.

It would be a different story for the Lynx in the second half, as Montclair State took control and outshot Rhodes, 15-0, in the second half, using five minute stretch seven minutes into the second half to take control of the game and pull away for the victory.

DiFelice led the offensive attack with three shots on the afternoon while seniors Mary Rose Hazel and Alex Friedman each added two shots a piece. Junior Mackenzie Busby also added a shot in the contest. Sophomore goalkeeper Laura Eckelkamp picked up 15 saves in the contest.

Rhodes will return to action on Monday as they will travel to Gwynedd Valley, Pa. to take on Gwynedd Mercy University. The match is set to start at 4 p.m. ET.
