BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Rhodes volleyball team suffered a tough loss to Birmingham Southern on Sunday, falling 3-0.
With the loss, Rhodes fall to 4-11 on the season and 0-5 in conference play, while Birmingham Southern improved to 13-6, 4-1 in Southern Athletic Association play.
The Lynx fell behind quickly in game one, losing 25-13. Rhodes then responded in games two and three, but couldn't finish out the games, losing 25-17 and 25-22.
Rhodes was led offensively by Mollie Newborn and Elasha Williams, who both had seven kills.
Caryn Hawkins had 18 assists for Rhodes, along with 12 digs which was second best on the team. Maraia Tremerelli led the Lynx defensively with 21 digs.
Rhodes will return to their home court next weekend for two SAA match ups, with Berry College at 6 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 3 and Oglethorpe University at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 4. ?
