DANVILLE, Ky. – The Rhodes volleyball squad suffered a tough loss at the hands of Centre College on Sunday, falling 3-0.
The Lynx now sit at 4-9 on the season, and begin Southern Athletic Association play at 0-2, while the Colonels improve to 4-10 on the year and 2-1 in league play.
The Lynx narrowly missed, falling in close sets, by scores of 25-22, 25-19 and 25-16.
Rhodes offensive efforts were led by
Elasha Williams, who swung for 12 kills on the day.
Mollie Newbern added six kills to the Lynx total.
First-year
Caryn Hawkins handed out 17 assists on the day. The defense was a team effort, where Williams sprawled for seven digs,
Catherine Grimes added six pickups and
Maraia Tremarelli had five digs.
Rhodes will be back in action on the road in back-to-back conference contests, first at Millsaps College on Sept. 27 at 2 p.m. followed by a match up with Birmingham Southern College on Sept. 28
