DEMOREST, Ga. – The Rhodes baseball team fell in the opening round of the NCAA South Regional on Wednesday to Emory University, 4-2.
The loss moves the Lynx to 32-16 on the season while the Eagles move on with a record of 30-10 overall.
Rhodes got on the board in the first inning when a
Strother White bases loaded walk, sent
Justin Genter home.
The Eagles posted a three run third inning to take the 3-1 advantage. In the next inning a Jared Kahn single through the left side scored Emory's final run.
Rhodes mounted a rally in the seventh inning when
Patrick Kilkenny singled through the left side and scored Genter for the second time in the contest. The Lynx couldn't muster any more runs and eventually fell, 4-2.
Blake Glauben got the start for the Lynx, throwing just shy of a complete game with seven and two third innings. While on the rubber, Glauben threw five strikeouts and only gave up two walks. Kilkenny came in to relieve, throwing to one batter.
Rhodes will face off against No. 6 Covenant College on Thursday, May 15 at 11 a.m.
