MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The No. 19 Rhodes baseball team picked up a win in non-conference play against Victory University, 10-1 on Tuesday.
The Lynx improve to 25-8 on the year while Victory is now 7-8 on their season.
Rhodes opened its scoring in the bottom of the first inning when a
Strother White single to left field scored
David Balaguer, giving the Lynx a 1-0 lead. The Eagles answered in the following inning with a single run of their own to knot the score up at 1-1.
Rhodes added five runs in the third inning with White sparking things again. A white single sent home
Ryan Olive, followed by a
Patrick Kilkenny double that scored two. The Lynx tacked on two more runs before the end of the inning, pushing ahead 6-1.
In the bottom of the fifth inning the Lynx added a security run when
Jordan Infield stole second, allowing
Logan Booksh to score on a throwing error. The Lynx tacked on another run in the bottom of inning seven when
Jackson Lourie singled to left field, scoring
Josh Berkey. The final Rhodes run came in the eighth inning when Lourie singled again, this time to center field, scoring Brenden DePoy.
Kilkenny got the start for the Lynx, throwing for three full innings, with three strikeouts and only two walks allowed.
Max Halasz came in to relieve, throwing two innings and striking out three batters with zero walks.
Thomas Beamish threw two innings, followed by a two inning appearance from
Philip Sartain, where he struck out three batters.
Rhodes will hit the road for their next contest, a three game series against Berry College on April 12-13.
