ROME, Ga. – No. 20 Rhodes baseball split with Berry College on Saturday, topping the Vikings 4-3 and falling in the second contest 13-3 in Southern Athletic Association action.
Rhodes is now 26-9 on the year and 12-5 in league action while the Vikings post a 23-11 record overall and 11-6 in the SAA.
In the first contest the Lynx notched seven hits in the outing, while Berry tallied six.
Blake Glauben got the start for Rhodes, where he threw a complete nine inning game. In the outing, Glauben racked up seven strikeouts and only allowed two walks while holding the Vikings to six hits.
The Lynx were paced by
Andrew Wallis who had two hits and two RBI's.
Rhodes struggled to get its offense going in the second contest as they fell 13-3. Several Lynx saw time on the hill, with
Adam Putnam getting the start and three innings of work.
Thomas Beamish followed with one inning, with
Philip Sartain adding two thirds innings.
Josh Olejnik threw a complete inning, with
Jonathan Coleman closing out the contest with the final batter faced.
Rhodes fought for eight hits in the contest, with
Bill Munson leading the way with two and Wallis adding a two base hit.
Rhodes will look to bounce back and win the series on Sunday, April 13 as they play game three against Berry.
