MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Rhodes baseball defeated Oglethorpe University 2-0 on Sunday in Southern Athletic Association action.
Rhodes improves to 11-4 on the year and 4-2 in league play while Oglethorpe falls to 6-8 and 1-5 in the SAA.
Adam Putnam began the day on the mound for the Lynx, throwing six strikeouts and only allowing five hits in six innings pitched.
Max Halasz, who earned the win, pitched for two innings with only one hit allowed.
Thomas Beamish grabbed the save as he relieved Halasz for the final inning. While on the hill, Beamish three one strike out and allowed one hit.
Rhodes tallied five hits to Oglethorpes seven, but made them count. The Lynx two runs came in the seventh inning when
Patrick Kilkenny hit a solo homerun to break the scoreless contest, and when
Josh Keen singled to center, sending home
Bill Munson.
Rhodes will begin its spring break trip to Florida, where the teams will embark on a five game stretch. The Lynx first stop will be a contest against Bridgewater College in Lakeland, Fla. on March 11.
