AUBURNDALE, Fla. – Rhodes used a big second inning rally to pick up its second spring break win in a 10-5 defeat of Rockford University on Wednesday.
Rhodes climbs to a 13-4 record while the Regents fall to 5-2 on their season.
The Lynx trailed 3-0 heading into the bottom of the second frame before putting together five hits, one walk and one hit batter to put up five runs.
Strother White kicked off the inning with a single to right field, followed by a double from
Patrick Kilkenny. Walker WcWherter singled to left on the next at bat, scoring White.
Andrew Wallis kept the hit parade going when he tripled to right field, scoring McWheter and Kilkenny.
Ryan Olive doubled to score the innings final run,
Bill Munson, which gave the Lynx the 5-3 edge.
Rhodes tacked on the winning run, and then some in the fourth inning of action, when they Lynx added the go ahead run when
Marcus Moreland reached home on a
Justin Genter RBI. Rhodes added some insurance when White singled to center, scoring Genter making the count 7-4.
Rhodes added three runs in the fifth and held the Regents to just one run in the sixth for the 10-5 win.
Rhodes wound up with 15 hits, three by Olive and Kilkenny apiece including a pair of pair of doubles, one from each. White, McWherter and
David Balaguer each had two hits for the Lynx.
The Lynx started
Josh Olejnik on the mound, where he went three innings, throwing for two K's.
Strother White finished the game and earned the win, throwing for six complete innings, where he struck out three and only gave up four hits.
Rhodes will return to action on Thursday when they take on Thomas More College in Auburndale, Fla. at 8 a.m.
