Rhodes goes 1-1 with Hendrix

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Rhodes baseball rallied late for a loss and a win on Saturday, falling 3-0 and bouncing back for a 5-2 win against Hendrix College in Southern Athletic Association double header action.
 
The loss puts the Lynx at 7-4 to start the season, and 1-2 in league play, while moving the Warriors to a 5-6 overall and 2-1 in conference.
 
In the first game, Hendrix scored two of their three runs early in the first, while the third run came in the top of the third inning making the count 3-0.
 
The Lynx put up a fight with 6 hits of their own, but couldn't turn their offense into runs.
 
Rhodes pitcher Blake Glauben took the mound for the first game, pitching eight complete innings, while giving up seven hits and three runs. Phil Sartain came in to close the game in the ninth inning, throwing a perfect three-out inning. The loss moves Glauben to a record of 1-1 on the season.
 
In the second game, the Lynx found its offense, scoring a run in the first inning when Ryan Olive scored Bill Munson to make the count 1-0. Rhodes had a productive fourth inning, scoring four. Andrew Wallis hit a sacrifice fly to bring in Strother White, followed by a Brendan DePoy double that scored Logan Booksh and Patrick Kilkenny. The Lynx' final run came when David Balaguer single to center field scoring DePoy.
 
Rhodes held the Warriors to only a two run fifth inning to secure the win. Earning the win for coach Jeff Cleanthes was Daniel Morris, who threw for six innings. Morris stuck out four, while only allowing six hits and two runs.
 
Josh Olejnik came in and earned the save, pitching one inning and not allowing any hits.
 
Rhodes will be back on the field on March 4 as they host cross-town rivals Victory College. First pitch is set to be thrown at 2 p.m.
