ATLANTA, Ga. – The Rhodes men's soccer team narrowly missed against Oglethorpe University on Friday, 1-0.
The Lynx fall to 6-6-2 on the year and 3-1-1 in Southern Athletic Association play, while the Stormy Petrels improve to 6-9-1 and 1-4 in league action.
The first half proved to be a tough battle, as neither team could find the back of the net in 45 minutes of play.
The Lynx defense continued to battle, but in the 53rd minute, Micah Akin buried a ball to give the Petrels a 1-0 lead.
Andy Marcinko's club battled, but couldn't find the back of the net, falling 1-0.
Riley Sheen was sound in the net for the Lynx in all 90 minutes, grabbing seven saves in goal.
Rhodes will look to bounce back on Oct. 26 against Berry College.
