MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Rhodes soccer stomped LeTourneau University by a score of 11-0 on Saturday in the first round of the Parents Weekend Tournament.
The win is the Lynx sixth straight, taking them to 6-1 on the year. The loss moves the Yellow Jackets to 1-7.
Rhodes utilized their physical superiority to overcome LeTourneau, with nine different players scoring in the contest.
Hunter Tilton found the back of the net first in the seventh minute off a
Kelsey Sweeney assist to grab the lead that the Lynx would never relinquish.
The goals kept coming when three minutes later
Hannah Selner connected unassisted. In the 13th minute
Heidi Press converted a Selner pass for the Lynx's third goal. Jenna Sarrett and
Elise Grisoni scored a goal apiece in the first half, to make the halftime score 5-0.
Rhodes didn't let up in the second half as
Kelsey Keown opened up the period with a goal finishing a pass from Sarett.
Katie Hatstat made the score 7-0 with a goal at the 62 minute mark and four minute later Grisoni scored her second goal of the contest. Selner connected for her second score in the match up at the 68 minute mark.
Nicolette Glidden put a way a Keown pass for the Lynx tenth score and
Elizabeth Wayda hit the mark for Rhodes final goal in the 85th minute to make the final tally 11-0.
Rhodes dominated the categories off the scoreboard as well, leading the shooting category 33-3. The Lynx also took more corner kicks, with a count of 8-1.
Two goal keepers saw time for the Lynx, with
Allison Cowling earing time in the first half, with one save and
Chandler Kuhlman getting 45 minute in the net with one save as well.
Rhodes will play again tomorrow, Sept 22 in the Parent weekend tournament against the University of Texas at Dallas at 10 a.m.
