MARYVILLE, Tenn. – Rhodes volleyball dropped two close matches to Carroll University (3-1) and Maryville College (3-0) on Saturday to finish out the Maryville Invitational Tournament.
The losses move the Lynx back to 0-4 on the young season while Carroll's mark is 2-1 post game, and Maryville moved to 1-3.
In their first match of the day, the Lynx fell in four sets by scores of 19-25, 27-25, 26-24 and 29-27.
In the match with the Pioneers senior Lexi Krall led the team in kills with 17.
Michelle Quina snagged 24 assists in the match while
Allison Limmer and
Catherine Grimes led the team in serving with four aces a piece.
Tasha Heller led the way on defense digging up 25 balls, while Grimes contributed 14 digs.
Rhodes faced the tournament host Maryville College in their second set of the day, falling in three straight sets by scores of 25-22, 25-19 and 25-18.
A host of Lynx contributed on offense including eight kills from Grims, six for Krall and five
Lauren Johnson.
Michelle Quina delivered 15 assists while
Allison Limmer added seven. Heller again tallied the most digs for Rhodes with 18 in the contest.
The Lynx will be back in action on Sept. 6 when they face the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor at 2 p.m. and Howard Payne University at 6 p.m. in the UT Tyler Invitational.
