Rhodes Tennis Dominates Dickinson College

    Both the Rhodes Men and Women's Tennis teams were victorious against Dickinson College Friday morning on the last day of their Spring Break matches. In the women's matches, Elyse Smith and Courtney Hornsby won their number 3 doubles match 8-6 after being down 2-5. Elle Prewitt and Amelia McIsaac won 8-4. Maggie Donoghue and Emily Rizer were down 1-5, then became extremely close to winning, but lost in the third set tiebreaker bringing the score to 9-8 (7-5). Also during the match, Donoghue injured her left ankle, forcing the women to play one position up. Amelia McIsaac stepped up to the number one position and defeated her 6-4, 6-6 (5-7) and 11-9 in the final tiebreaker. Courtney Hornsby also won her match in a tiebreaker. The score was 5-7, 6-2 (10-6). The overall final score was 5-4. The men swept the doubles. In singles, Graham Sowden played very well, but lost 10-8 in a third set tiebreaker. Sanders Phelps and Eliot Blatt clinced the match, both winning 11-9 a third set tiebreaker to give Rhodes the fourth and fifth points of the match. Friday's Dickinson matches marked the final matches for Spring Break Tennis in Hilton Head. The teams used this time to improve their game as they move to conference play. Up next for the Lynx is the Rhodes Invitational beginning Friday.
