ROME, Ga. – Rhodes volleyball closed out its season in a consolation match against Centre on Saturday, falling 3-1.
The Lynx finish their 2013 campaign with a 10-21 overall record, while the Colonels end the season with a 23-5 record.
The Lynx had a bit of a sluggish start, dropping the first set 25-15. Rhodes fought back, taking the second set 25-22, before the Colonels charged back to take the next two sets, 27-25 and 25-23.
Rhodes was led in attacking by
Mollie Newbern, who swung for 14 kills.
Lexie Krall was right on her heels, adding 13 kills in the match.
The Lynx' senior
Michelle Quina ended her career, adding 39 assists to her total. Quina is on the top ten Rhodes all-time assists leaderboard.
Tasha Heller dug up the most balls for the Lynx, snagging 16 digs. Quina also had 13 pick-ups, while
Leah Washburn added 11 and
Maraia Tremarelli contributed 10.
Rhodes finishes its season with five more conference wins than a year ago, a tremendous feat, and improved on their overall record with three more wins than the 2012 season.
