Rhodes used scores from a host of players to down Oberlin College, 7-1

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Rhodes field hockey earned a 7-1 victory over Oberlin College on Sunday in neutral site play at Bellarmine University.
 
The win advances the Lynx to 10-7 on the season while Oberlin falls to 4-15 in 2013.
 
Rhodes held control from the start of the contest with McKenna Wilson scoring the first goal off a Julie Hertzman pass at the seven minute mark. The Lynx would extend their lead seven minutes later when Hertzman netted a goal of her own off an Evy Royther assist to make the score 2-0. Just three minutes later Wilson scored her second goal with an assist from Regan McLaughlin to make the count 3-0 in favor of Rhodes. Grace Whelan scored her second goal of the season unassisted at the 21 minute mark. Hannah Darrow connected on the final goal of the half, finishing a Meaghan Fogarty pass to take the 5-0 lead into the half.
 
The second half of action continued with Rhodes dominance, when Erin Best scored just three minutes into the half, burying a second Fogarty assist. Fogarty then got a goal of her own for the final Rhodes score in the 55th minute when she found the back of the cage off a Samantha Anscher pass to make the tally 7-0, Rhodes. Oberlin got its lone goal in the 56th minute when Claire Miller connected unassisted to make the final count 7-1 in favor of the Lynx.
 
Rhodes saw two different keepers earn minutes, with Kelly Whelan seeing 35 minutes. Erin Bailey was also in net for 35 minutes, and grabbed two saved in her time on the field.

Rhodes outshot its opponents by a count of 19-4. The race for penalty corners was a much tighter one with the Lynx and Oberlin both awarded nine corners.
 
Rhodes will face host Bellarmine University later today as they wrap up their regular season.
