Game Recap: Field Hockey |

Rhodes rolls Transylvania for SAA win, 5-0

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Rhodes field hockey rolled over Transylvania University 5-0 for their second conference win over the Pioneers this season.

The win takes the Lynx 4-1 in conference play and 4-6 on the season. Transy falls to 4-9 overall and 1-4 in the Southern Athletic Association.

Rhodes put up the shut out with the help of three different Lynx working into the scoring column. Mackenzie Busby got the Lynx on the board first with her unassisted goal at the six minute mark. Christina DiFelice scored a pair of goals, her first coming just 15 seconds after the first score from an Evy Royther assist. The Lynx would take the 2-0 lead into the half time.

DiFelice opened the second half by finding the back of the cage off an Erin Best pass to take Rhodes to a 3-0 lead. Grace Whelan scored her first collegiate goal in the 54th minute when Julie Hertzman set up the freshmen. Busby would send the final score home in the 59th minute when she again scored unassisted.

Rhodes was led in the cage by first-year Erin Bailey who snagged five saves in her 70 minutes in goal.

The Lynx outshot the Pioneers by a tally of 36-7 and were awarded more penalty corners by a count of 13-8.

Rhodes will be in action Sunday as they travel to Danville, Ky. to face the Colonels of Centre College at 11 a.m.
