SEWANEE, Tenn. - Rhodes women's soccer defeated Sewanee by a narrow score of 1-0 on Sunday's SAA conference match up.

The win brings the Lynx overall record to 12-4-1 and 4-1-1 in the SAA, while the Tigers fell to 10-5-1 on the season and 3-3-0 in conference play.

The first half was an end-to-end battle for possession, with both teams scrapping to win the ball and to play through the crowded midfield. Despite Sewanee's high pressure and physical style of play, the Lynx were able to break the deadlock. With seven minutes intp the contest, Rhodes earned a free kick from 20 yards outside the box and junior defender
Breanna Durbin stepped up to take it. Her long-range shot slipped past Sewanee's defense and goalkeeper as it sailed into the right corner of the goal, making the score 1-0 for the Lynx. The goal breathed some life into the Lynx, who had several good spells of possession until the end of the half.

After half time, both teams came out with renewed energy; Sewanee were poised to get an equalizer, and the Lynx were eager to score a second goal. Both sides created chances in the second half, but neither team could find the back of the net. The score line remained 1-0 until the final whistle.

Allison Cowling played the full 90 for the Lynx, making five saves.
