MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Rhodes volleyball defeated conference rivals Sewanee Saturday, 3-2 in an exciting comeback.
The win moves the Lynx up to 9-17 and 6-7 in the conference while the Tigers fall to 13-11 and 4-8 in SAA play.
The Lynx started the game strong as they defeated Sewanee 25-15 easily in the first set. The next set was controlled by the Tigers who took the set 25-20. The third set looked even worse for the Lynx who trailed early, but battled back to challenge the Tigers. Sewanee ultimately took the set 25-22. However, this would be the last defeat the Lynx would experience. The fourth set was all Rhodes who took the set 25-14. Rhodes clearly had all the momentum going into the final set, and won easily 15-4 to give them the victory over the Tigers for the day.
The Lynx were led in scoring by Alexis Krall with 22 kills.
Mollie Newbern contributed with 15 kills, and S. Renner had a solid nine on the day.
Michelle Quina directed the offence, dishing out 47 assists.
Maraia Tremarelli sprawled for solid 34 digs.
The Lynx will take on the Colonels from Centre College at home on Oct. 27 for an 11:00 a.m. matchup.
