Panthers Hold on against Lynx

Visiting Birmingham-Southern College held on to a 3-2 victory in the SAA opener for both teams.

BSC was off to an early lead when Kelly Craft found the back of the net 6 minutes into the game.  The Panthers would increase their lead in the 19th minute, when Hillary Dreyfus scored on a service from Kelly Craft.  The Lynx would answer back in the 31st minute when sophomore Kelsey Keown scored on an assist from senior Paula Vasichko.

The 2nd half would prove to be a half of near misses for the Lynx.  Rhodes came out aggressively in the 2nd half and found several good chances.  Tragedy struck in the 64th minute when Bailey Kimbell scored off of an assist from Amanda Babbin.  The Lynx did battle back when sophomore Taylor Weidow scored off of a bobbled save from BSC goalkeeper Richelle Byrd in the 74th minute.  The initial shot was from Keown.

The Lynx had a flurry of shots on the Panther goal, but could not find the equalizer.  Their best chance was when junior Jenna Sarett deflected a clearance that struck the crossbar.  In the end the Lynx held the advantage in shots 21-10, shots on goal 11-7, and corners 4-1.

The Lynx must rebound quickly as they host NAIA foe Freed-Hardeman tomorrow at 1pm.
