Rhodes Women's soccer outlasted Elmhurst College today 3-1.
The Lynx were off to a strong start to the game when Sophomore
Kelsey Keown's free kick found the back of the net in the 10th minute. Both teams traded attacking opportunities through the majority of the frist half. The Lynx added a second goal before half time, when freshmen
Hannah Selner scored off of an assist from classmate
Elizabeth Wayda.
The Lynx started strong in the 2nd half when Wayda finished a turnover from the Bluejay defense in the 50th minute. Elmhurst battled back in the 77th minute when Emily Heimerdinger scored off of a bouncing ball in the box.
Allison Cowling and
Chandler Kuhlman combined for the Lynx win. Maddie Fitzpatrick made 2 saves for the Bluejays.
Rhodes held the advantage in shots 14-12 and corners 4-3.
The Lynx host Birmingham Southern College next weekend in their first ever SAA game.
