Lynx Football Drops Tough Game to BSC

Memphis, TN - The Rhodes College Football team lost a close and hard fought SAA Conference game versus the visiting Birmingham-Southern Panthers by a score of 2-16. 

BSC, ranked 13th in the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Top 25 Poll, came into the game averaging 49 points with over 500 yards of Total Offense per game. The Lynx defense put out a great effort, by limiting the Panthers to only 16 points and 235 yards of Total Offense. Defensively the Lynx were led by Joseph Raby with 9 total tackles (including 1 sack and 2.5 Tackles for Loss). 

Offensively the Lynx out gained the Panthers by 50 yards of Total Offense. Freshman Quarterback Blake Box completed 26 of 39 pass attempts for 181 yards, with Senior Jack Lartigue catching 10 passes for 72 yards. On the ground Box, Junior Dane Wilson, and Freshman Kevin Vieira paced the running attack with 132 total rushing yards. 

The Lynx will hit the road for their first away contest of the 2012 campaign next week against former SCAC conference opponent Trinity University (TX). Kickoff in San Antonio, TX is slated for a 6:00 PM CST start.
