Danville, KY- The Lynx opened SAA play today with a win at Centre, and evened their overall record to 2-2 with the victory. First year player
Mary Rose Hazel scored on the Lynx first offensive penalty corner of the game to put Rhodes ahead 1-0 midway through the first half. Hazel found the back of the cage on a pass from senior captain
Sarah Ferguson, who earned her second assist of the year on the play. The Lynx carried the 1-0 lead into half time and came out strong in the second half with freshman
Julie Hertzman putting the team up 2-0 just ten minutes in. Sophomore
Kate Taylor assisted on the play. Centre rebounded in the last twenty minutes, dominating much of play and scoring with twelve minutes to play. The Colonels earned 8 second half penalty corners including two with no time left on the clock but the Lynx managed to hang on for the 2-1 win. Rhodes benefitted from stellar play by junior defenders Sam Anscher and
Regan McLaughlin as well as senior goalkeeper
Jordan Robinson who notched 11 saves. Centre held a 12-8 advantage in penalty corner opportunities but Rhodes out shot Centre 19-15. The Lynx take on Transylvania tomorrow at 11 am in their second SAA match of the year.
