The Lynx defeated the University of Dallas in Irving 3-2 in overtime.
Rhodes trailed early in the match, when UD scored in the 17th minute. Marissa Garcia found the back of the net after a small scrum in the box. The Lynx leveled the match with 4 minutes left in the 1st half. Senior
Paula Vasichko sent in a cross that sophomore
Kelsey Keown finished with her head.
The Lynx found themselves behind in the match in the 71st minute when Melissa Carpenter finished a loose ball in the box. Freshman
Lauren Albright scored her first career goal just 5 minutes later. Vasichko again the provider of the service, but off of a corner this time. Both teams could not find the winner in regulation.
Less than 2 minutes into overtime the Lynx completed the comeback. Senior
Beth Ann McCloskey had the game winner when she finished a rebound off of the UD goalkeeper Brigid Hasson. Junior
Heidi Press' corner kick forced Hasson into a save which bounced to McCloskey for the winner. The overtime game was the 3rd straight for the Lynx.
Hasson made 7 saves, while
Allison Cowling had 5 for the Lynx. UD held the advantage in corners 6 to 3, but Rhodes had the advantage in shots 19-16.
The Lynx return to action tomorrow at noon as the face Austin College.
