The Rhodes College Lynx struggled offensively on Saturday, December 1st, falling to the Emory University Eagles by a score of 70 to 48. Rhodes came out strong leading for the first five minutes but the offense stalled for the Lynx. Over the last 14:31 of the first half, the Lynx managed to only score two points and none in the last 9 minutes and 33 seconds. The defense played strong holding Emory to only 27 points over the first twenty minutes. Rhodes had two runs left in them in the second half but either would get them closer than eight. Emory handed Rhodes their fourth loss of the year, 70 to 48.
Rhodes first half scoring drought allowed the Emory Eagles to grab hold of a solid halftime lead. The Lynx shot a combined 1-14 from the three-point line and 21% from the field. Opening the second half the Lynx went on a small run to push the Emory lead to only eight, but back-to-back missed layups by the Lynx could not pull them any closer. Emory followed by pushing the lead up to a game-high 26 with just under four minutes remaining. Rhodes fell by a score of 70 to 48.
Emory was led by Jake Davis and Alex Greven who scored 17 and 15 points respectively. Rhodes was led by
Andrew Galow who paced the Lynx with 20 points and 6 rebounds. The Lynx shot a season low 37% for the game and 16% (4 for 25) from distance.
The loss puts Rhodes at 2-4 for the year as they head into finals. The next contest for the Lynx will be home on December 14th as they play Mississippi College (3-1).
