The Rhodes Lynx fell to 0-2 on the young season with a 75-71 loss to Westminster College on Saturday, November 17th. Rhodes came out strong after a dissapointing loss the night before to grab a quick seven point lead and continued to hold that lead by three at the half. Falling behind by ten with 6:42 remaining, the Lynx fought back but could not get over the hump in the last few minutes.
Each defensive was able to get stops by forcing turnovers, but the offense was the story on Saturday evening. Westminster shot 58% from the field including 44% from the three-point line, while Rhodes shot 51% from the field and 45% from the three-point line. Free throws haunted the Lynx for the second night in a row missing another four over the final minutes.
Offensively, Rhodes had four players in double figures led by Senior
Theo Hartwell with 15 points.
Andrew Galow added 13 point for the Lynx to go along with 6 assists. In addition,
Johnny Dunavant had 14 points and Sophomore
Geoff Livsey had 13 points and 7 rebounds (5 offensive). Westminster had three players in double figures, paced by Lee with 18 points.
With the loss the Lynx beginning the year 0-2. They will be back in action this Thanksgiving weekend at Rhodes against Blackburn College on Saturday afternoon and Rust College on Sunday afternoon.
