Box Score The Rhodes Lynx grabbed their first victory of the young season with a decisive 74 to 47 victory over Blackburn College on Saturday, November 24th. A quick start saw the lynx run out to a 9-0 lead in the first three possessions and the Lynx never looked back. The lead expanded to double digits and the Blackburn Beavers were only able to get as close as nine over the last thirty minutes.
Each member of the starting backcourt drained a three-point field goal over the first three offensive possessions to run out to a quick 9-0 lead. Senior
Andrew Galow started the scoring and finished the night with 19 points on 7-12 shooting. Galow also added a team high six assists. Juniors
Johnny Dunavant and
Patrick McGrail joined into the three-pointer party causing the Beavers to use an early timeout. Dunavant finished with 17 points, going 5-7 from distance.
Patrick McGrail added an all-around game with 5 points, 4 assists, and 3 steals.
The Lynx finished the half with their biggest lead of the night at 40 - 24, and continued to stretch the lead in the second period. A made three-point field goal by
Drew Miller with 6:07 remaining saw the biggest lead of the night at 31. For the game the Lynx shot 49% from the field, but were able to hit 10 of 20 three-point field goals. It was the best night thus far for the defense, holding the Beavers to 37%.
Rhodes improves its record to 1-2 and looks to square it up as they take on Rust College tomorrow afternoon, Sunday, November 25th at 3pm.
