Memphis, TN - The Rhodes College Football team posted its best record since 2003 and second best record since 1991, with another close and thrilling victory over SAA opponent Centre College, by a score of 31-24, to close the 2012 campaign. With the victory the Lynx ended the season 6-3 overall and placed 2nd in the newly formed SAA Conference.

Offensively the Lynx were led by a balanced rushing attack that posted 278 rushing yards on the day. Junior Running Back Dane Wilson rushed the ball 16 times for 71 yards and a touchdown,  Freshman Running Back Kevin Vieira rushed the ball 9 times for 62 yards, while Freshman Quarterback Blake Box added 8 rushes for 72 yards. Most notably, coming in for and injured Blake Box, Senior Quarterback Tyler Perkins rushed 3 times for 61 yards in the Lynx final scoring drive to take the lead with only 3:34 left in regulation. In the air, Senior Jack Lartigue caught 8 passes for 95 yards and a touchdown, to end a career in which he started at Wide Receiver for the Lynx for 4 seasons.

Defensively the Lynx were led by Freshman Linebacker Michael Shield who accounted for 21 tackles on the day, with 1 sack, and 1.5 tackles for loss. Sophomore Linebacker Joseph Raby and Senior Defensive Lineman Jimmy Caruthers also added 10 tackles a piece to help shut down Centre's powerful rushing attack.

Head Coach Dan Gritti has this to say about the win: “We won with great effort by the entire team, and in particular the seniors played outstanding. At the end of the game when the chips were down Tyler Perkins led us to victory, I couldn't be happier with the direction we are moving this program in and the seniors all were a huge part of it.”
