10/7/2012 7:21:00 PM

Memphis, TN- The Lynx earned their second shut out and sixth SAA win of the season in a 3-0 home victory over Transylvania.  Rhodes advances to 7-3 with the win while the Pioneers fall to 1-10.  Sophomore Kate Taylor scored the game winner just 10 minutes into play on a cross from first year player Evy Royther.  Rhodes dominated the first half outshooting Transy 22-0 and earning 8 penalty corners to Transy's 0, but the Poineers played tough in the goal mouth and held Rhodes to only two first half scores much thanks to an outstanding performance by goalkeeper Sara Aschbacher who secured 14 first half saves.  The Lynx second goal was a direct shot from first year player Mary Rose Hazel, her 4th goal of the season.

The second half was more evenly played but Rhodes still held a significant edge in shots even though both teams earned 4 penalty corners.  Aschbacher continued to be a force in the goal for the Poineers, thwarting many strong attempts by the Lynx.  Rhodes' final talley came on a penalty corner 7 minutes into the half with Katie Faucher firing a shot to the far post which Julie Hertzman finished.

On the game Rhodes out shot Transy 40-2 and held a 12-4 advantage in penalty corner opportunities.  Jordan Robinson notched her second shut out of the season with two saves in goal for the Lynx while Sara Aschbacher secured a season high 25 saves.  Rhodes (7-3, 6-0 SAA) will travel to the east coast next weekend to play Randolph Macon, #8 Franklin and Marshall, and York College.
