Sherman, TX - The Rhodes College Football team won its first road game of the 2012 campaign pulling off a 27-13 victory against former SCAC opponent Austin College.
The Lynx were led offensively on the ground by Junior
Dane Wilson (17 carries for 58 yards and 1 TD) and Freshman Kevin Vieria (9 carries for 52 yards and 1 TD) again this week. Passing the ball, Freshman Quarterback
Blake Box completed 16 of 22 passes for 129 yards with two touchdown passes - one to Senior Wide Receiver
Jack Lartigue (7 receptions for 56 yards) and another to Freshman Jonathon Wiener (2 receptions for 32 yards) . Defensively, the Lynx were led by Junior Defensive Lineman
Jimmy Caruthers (11 total tackles), Junior Defensive Back
Stanton Brown (10 total tackles), and Freshman Linebacker
Michael Shield (10 total tackles).
Head Coach
Dan Gritti had this to say about the game: "We played down to our competition but we will take the win. We will need to improve to beat a good Macalester team on the road next week."
The Lynx will be on the road again next week, as they take on out of conference opponent Macalester College in St. Paul, MN. Kickoff is slated for 1:00 PM CST.
