The Lynx field hockey team won their season opener today in convincing fashion with a 4-0 victory over regional powerhouse Wooster. First year player
Kat Simpson paced the offense with a goal and two assists while
Sarah Ferguson and
Regan McLaughlin held down the middle. All four goals were scored in thr first half, and Wooster pressed hard after some halftime adjustments.
Sara Sanders, Sam Anscher, and
Corrinne Palmer held tight on the defensive end under the direction of sophomore and junior goalkeepers
Kelly Whelan and
Jordan Robinson who notched their first shutout together.
Katie Faucher scored the game winning goal just 8 minutes into play. Kat SImpson added a second goal within two minutes.
Taylor Mills scored on a penalty stroke, and
Chelsea McLeod finished a cross from
Kat Simpson to put the Lynx up 4-0 at the half. The Lynx held on for the win and will face Kenyon tomorrow at 11 am (at Centre).
