Field Hockey Falls in Double OT to Montclair State

Playing in Montclair, NJ on the campus of Montclair State University, the Rhodes Field Hockey team lost in an epic battle to Montclair State University by the score of 3-2 in the second overtime of the opening round of the NCAA Division III Field Hockey Championships.

Montclair State started off strong scoring their first goal in the first four minutes of the game and picked up their second goal with four minutes remaining in the first half. 

Although the Lynx were outshot 14-0 in the first half, the momentum began to switch in favor of the Lynx during the second half.  Freshman forward Kat Simpson set up Katie Faucher to cut the lead to 2-1 with 44:29 remaining in the second half.  With only forty seconds remaining in the second half, Simpson was able to tie the game up at 2-2.

The teams remained tied after the first overtime period before Montclair State scored in the second overtime period with 8:38 remaining.

Regan McLaughlin and Sarah Sanders anchored the team's defense while Goalie Jordan Robinson had 11 saves on the day for the Lynx.

The team finishes the season with an overall record of 11-7, which included the team's 3rd straight SCAC Championship and 2nd straight appearance in the NCAA Tournament.
